The weather data available on this site is uploaded directly from our high quality Davis Vantage Pro 2 automated weather station, situated at Sheerness, on the Isle Of Sheppey in north Kent.
Cam 1 shows the view from our north facing race tower, which affords panoramic views of the Thames Estuary towards Southend on sea.
Cam 2 is focused to the north west towards the Port of Sheerness, with the Isle of Grain just visible in the distance.
Cam 3 is focused to the north east looking out towards the north sea.
The anemometer (wind sensor) is fixed a few metres above the top of our flag mast, one of the highest points in Sheerness. This is situated in clear, unobstructed air approx. 15m above ground level, which should help to give true readings. The sensor accuracy is ±1 mph (as specified by the manufacturer).
Data is uploaded to the site every 5 minutes. The web cams refresh at 5 minute intervals.
The bespoke webcam system, with weather integration was created, and has been continually updated & developed by local web design company Designbell.
The system has been running since July 2003.
